During the film Coraline is given the sweater by the Other Mother in anticipation for her visit to Miss Spink and Miss Forcible. She continues to wear it until she runs away only to find her parents missing, then she is shown to be wearing her pajamas and at the end, where it is seen that Coraline seemingly used pieces of the sweater to patch up the knees of the pajamas, which got torn in the struggle with the Other Mother.
